Does telescopic transphyseal nailing like Fassier-Duval prevent secondary torsion deformities of femur or tibia in children with osteogenesis imperfecta during residual growth? I am especially interested in cases after deformity correction osteotomies. Thank you.
Thank you. We use temporary ExFix (2 to 3 post-op weeks) in combination with intramedullary telescopic devices in order to prevet this early kind of secondary deformity
After telescopic rod in femoral or tibial deformity correction with osteotomy, to prevent secondary early displacement in rotation we apply a pelvic or femoral podalic cast (not circular) for the first 2 weeks, with excellent results and compliance

Does this cast allow weight-bearing, longitudinal charge of limb?
For the first 2 weeks after surgery (percutaneous corrective osteotomy or fracture) the patient is protected with plaster (not circular, a kind of orthosis). When remove the sutures remove also the cast and starts the re-education without bearing. As of the third week (on average) starts gait training with progressive load in the pool in our specialized center.
