The herbal extract, actually a decoction will be given only once to experimental mice based on body weight. The study aims to determine if the plant is capable of elevating the platelet level of the animals. How many days after dosing should the platelet level be counted?
Beware of herbal extracts! there is no CGMP therefore there is no standardized dosage. The only thing that makes platelet counts increase is Thrombopoietin, which has a very well known structure. If you have the molecular structure of your herbal solution, you can compare molecules. I would say 24 hours should produce a significant effect depending on how the herbal extract is metabolized (CY-P-450 etc). I had patients have profound bleeding and go into hypovolemic shock because they were taking "natural herbal medicine". Not everything that is natural is good for you!
Forgot to mention. The "Bible" for people who work with platelets both from research or clinical sides, is Michelson "PLATELETS" 3rd Edition. This is an expensive book, but you should be able to get a hold of it through your medical library.
@Sergio Torioni, thank you very much for sharing your insights, I found it indeed realistic and evidence-based. I am actually helping young scientists (high-schoolers) in their science project testing Euphorbia hirta's ability to increase platelet count in albino mice. I am afraid that they can't get into any deeper investigation of the plant warranting isolation nor identity of its active compound. Previous studies, again by young scientists, observing toxicity of plant decoction on mice based on gross behavior and it showed no adverse reactions. But thanks again, we\ll make several considerations of their project.

I suspect that the molecular structure of Euphorbia is available online, since it is a supplement that is sold in stores. It would not be difficult to compare general chemical structures of both, be it only to see if any part of the thrombopoietine molecule have any similaties. The structure could be printed and comparing olifacti and aromatic rings would give them something interesting and different to learn and see how current "drugs" are made to imitate nature.
