The question is where is the PV located and how to minimise gird losses in the network. Urbanisation isn't seen as a positive by many people, but centralised energy demands can reduce losses and smart decentralised rural village smart localised cluster grids, in my opinion, is one direction that can be taken.
I think PV need for surface will decrease dramatically and with the help of graphene and the new generation of supercapacitors we will be able to get energy from sun and directly use it in our buildings, no matter if they are on rural villages or in large cities.
So, no energy networks in the future and no wires but buildings that directly get energy from sun and use it.

Most of losses accures in cables so the length of cable is very important. However, sometimes it is better to accept some losses in your system because of economic reasons.

In big agglomerations there is simply not enough space to meet demand by use of PV. In rural areas you might also stay in DC levels reducing losses or charging battery packs (lead/acid or even H) immediately - which would give support in the usual time differential of production and consumption.
I think the answer should be large cities in order to reduce the wiring losses particularly. As in the case of large cities, the land is expensive thereby the people live in small areas and the houses are nearer to each other like apartment flats in a building and residential colonies. Therefore the wiring cost per user would be reduced in cities. Additionally, more number of user can be accessible to the green solar power. The consumption of electricity is also more in cities in comparison to the rural areas so again it would be beneficial and efficient to start with the large cities for grid connected solar power.
