To perform GFRP Bars the tensile test according to ACI 440, if it is possible to use a tube steel of 2.5 mm thickness insted of 5 mm thickness?

I will use steel tube of 300 mm of lenght and GFRP bars of 6.4 mm of diameter.

Hi Yonatan,

Please check the ASTM D7205/D7205M “Standard Test Method for Tensile Properties of Fiber Reinforced Polymer Matrix Composite Bars”. This test method replaced the old B.1 and B.2 methods in ACI 440.3R for tensile properties of GFRP bars. ASTM D7205/D7205M also provides the recommended dimensions for the steel tubes you may use for each bar diameter.
