Quality bolts have thread rolling. Is normal use to this bolts steel with 0,2%C alloy with low boron to improve quenchability. The thread rolling is better if the necking obtain in tensile testing is high. Someone know which is the minimun % of necking?

Dear Daniel, the threshold level for the stress where the necking starts is simply known as the ultimate tensile stress (UTS) of that material.
CS.009 Annealed low-Carbon steel (0.18% C) shows on set of plastic deformation (necking starts) at engineering strain about equal to S= (L-Lo)/ Lo = 0.875 % . The same steel shows fracture at S= 1.65% for Engineering Stress at 310 MPa.
