Does someone have experience with recent use of thermal imaging to survey wild boars? Any equipment on might want or want to avoid?Any success stories or disaster stories?
If you intend to find and identify wild boar over larger distances (up to 1500m) in open country, you should maybe try a device with higher resolution (640 x 480). We used a Pulsar Helion XP50 in our project to spot wild boar at night and found it very useful for a quick overview. At a distance of 50m, you're going to see details as thin as hair. Video shooting is also possible, as well as screen sharing via WiFi, e.g. with a smart phone.
