Although till is often defined as unsorted glacial sediment, diamictite has a bimodal particle size distribution:— erratics and dropstone components give one volumetric peak per cubic metre and seived sand and mud another, separated by several orders of magnitude. The runoff from mudslides often has a similar bimodal distribution, so how can these processes be distinguished in a fresh exposure?
