Dear Research gate members,
I've made a needle weave of natural fibres for thermal insulation, so that when I join the fabrics together, there are pockets of air inside the panel, which provides insulation.
When I increase the joining pressure up to 2500 Pa, the thermal conductivity tends to decrease, which is the opposite.

May I ask how you are joining these fabrics?
I can just about imagine that if they are being stitched together, a higher tension in the thread will bring together the two parts of the fabric between the thread more tightly.
But by doing so one creates a void on either side of the thread - imagine sewing on a button if the holes are too tightly bunched, you have holes around them - and perhaps that is the effect at work.
If you are gluing them together, of course, this is a useless and wrong hypothesis.

a mixed model of the masses and their conductivity may give you a fair approximation. Real values can only obtained by experiment. There are standard procedures available. regards Hellmut
