The COVID pandemic has been a blessing for most journals, including our Journal of Clinical Orthopaedics and Trauma. Currently, we are getting around 6 new manuscripts daily and the number of submissions in the last 4 months has risen to 280%, compared to the last year. I do not know when this curve is likely to flatten to come to normalcy.
This trend has over-burdened the editors and their editorial team members, especially as the number of journal staff has not risen but has actually decreased to lockdown and some staff getting sick.
What are the likely reasons for such an exponential rise?
Probably Sir, the lockdown has given researchers more time to complete pending works. As the number of operative cases has gone down; especially the elective OR, there is more time on hand for academic activities.
The patterns of submissions during COVID-19 pandemic, in various journals, could be divided into several groups:
A)Newly conducted research or review.
B)Recent research, waiting for submission.
C)Older research (2years), not able to get published, so far.

The COVID articles are only about 10% of the total sumbissios during the pandemic
I agree with Nandan Marathe. I was able to finish my work on a few of my pending articles as well. I think the effect of this will last for a while even after the lockdown ends as more and more accepted articles get published.
Sir, submitting the previous pending work is the most likely reason for orthopaedic surgeons. Contributing to the research through personal experiences in practice in COVID pandemic could be another reason for the rise in the research work.

Owing to increased submissions of pending tasks and limited initiation of new researches and clinical work, the present 'infodemic' may prove to be a harbinger for dried up submissions in the near future (obviously not applicable to pen and paper research)..

COVID-19 articles are loosing its shine now with rejections. Need articles with data and outcome of stragies undertaken to counteract the virus
