The RG scoring system rewards quantitative inter-activity more than qualitative input, i.e. the system wants to bind you to RG, no matter how your inputs refer to scientific reference.

1. Does GHOST exist ? - Nobody knows.

2. What happen after death? - Nobody knows.

3. Scoring system of Research Gate ? - Nobody knows.

In fact, I assume RG score as serial number : )

So, it does't matter to me. I just partcipate to learn and share something and not for scores. I have my own calculation like publication, contribution, concept or great ideas,... which is reflected during conversation like a profile created in mind, so don't need to know RG scores.

This means that it takes the scores and interactions of every researcher into account when producing a relative rating of your contributions. For example, if your contributions are less than the average of all users that week, your RG Score could decrease or remain constant. If you (or one of your co-authors) recently removed some of your publications, or if questions you recently answered were removed, for example, this could also detract from your RG Score.

To improve your RG Score, ask a question or give another researcher a helpful answer. Share anything from negative results to raw data or full-fledged publications. If it's of worth to the community, your peers will likely give you feedback, and this will factor into your RG Score. Connect with others, contribute high-quality content, and your score will rise.

Without RG score calculation simulation program maintenance of huge data is impossible.Answering a question at No.1 and recommendations of answer get highest mark.

I think the RG claims to "measure scientific reputation" by taking "all your research and turns it into a source of reputation", and this is the RG Score.

I think that RG is a very good platform for acquiring and sharing knowledge. So, importance may be given on this aspect not on RG score.

You are right. Lot of discussions are taking place on this issue. Some predictions (from experience) may be correct. Still people are not satisfied. If it is declared officially then all confusions will be removed and people may concentrate on the main subject (sharing, acquiring knowledge, interaction etc.) not on score.

There are many reasons to sign up for Researchgate. You can make your publications more widely available, you can learn about the work of other scientists, you can find new connections for scientific collaboration - and you can try to get a high score to pet your ego.

Researchgate is interested in remaining you on the platform as long and as often as possible. This goal is subordinated to the origin of the score. In addition, its opacity is well intended to prevent manipulation.

I can not recognize a correlation between score and scientific reputation.

To me, RG score means nothing (or at least nothing even marginally important): certainly not a "measure of scientific reputation"; e.g. I have a rather high (above that of 92.5% RG members according to RG) score of 35.92, with the following "components": publications 12.21%, questions 3.50%, answers 84.25%, followers 0.04. So, my >100 publications are of less than one seventh value of my answers to some trivial questions like this one - what has this to do with "scientific reputation"???

Hi Aleksandar - my answer written yesterday somewhat disappeared (not the first such situation with RG...). Anyway, you are probably right: publications are perhaps "weighted" according to IF, and - if so - this is likey just the principal reason why RG score means nothing of any scientific importance (by the way, what is the IF of this - or any other - answer? Apparently extremely high...).

Is weird, but what I have seen in the last weeks is

1. When you examinate the RG score of People with more than 100% RG score, a big percent comes from the answers and questions, not precisely the number or impact of the publications.

2. So, somebody with 30 publications, but with a LOT of answers to different topics could have a higher RG score comparing to other that have 100 publications, but never answer questions.

Something weird!

The score is broken down into publications, questions, answers and followers.

Every member of the RG community is smart enough to draw his/her own conclusions.

Can you imagine a calculation formula for the RG Score, with which all members are satisfied (except FG score for you or a RR score for me)?

More exclamation marks do not make a sentence more true !!!!!!

Why do you think you need a higher RG Score?

Not every scientist automatically has competences in statistics.

Perhaps some scientists are happy to meet competent professionals like you here to HELP them with their statistical issues?

RG score is one indicator among others. For some people, it is very important to have high RG scores, but some other they don´t care. In fact, some high-level scientist in my field they do not have a profile in RG. What is important (at least for me) is to understand that the RGIFactor is given by several factors and some of those with high IF % are not necessarily the ones with more publications.

Nobody knows the correct algorithm which RG follows for the computation of score. We are giving some ideas based on observations which may have impacts on the RG score.
