I need your assistance in determining the relationship between occurrence, severity, and detectability and maintenance strategy selection?
I have a problem with how the FMECA factors (occurrence, severity, and detectability) is defined and how it is used to judge the relative importance (i.e., scores) of alternatives (maintenance policy) using AHP method . What the meaning of occurrence, severity, and detectability used as critera in maintenance strategy selection?
Does the occurrence mean MTBF?
Does the severity mean MTTR?
An example to explain
When performing the pairwise comparison between the alternatives (maintenance policy) with respect to occurrence with regard to single seal damag, a question may be asked "how important is preventive maintenance compared to predictive maintenance with respect to occurrence?" The answer to such question is preventive very strong importance (value of 7) when compared to the Predictive maintenance with respect to occurrence for single seal
What is the meaning of this answer? How do you compare the performance of preventive maintenance with regard to the occurance of failure compared with predictive maintenance? I appreciate your help.
