For example, I am fascinated about the tonic release of certain peptides and wonder how there is sufficient receptor at the cell surface for continuous interaction. I am interested in neuropeptide structure and function in deuterostomian invertebrates (e.g. echinoderms). A long-term objective is to reconstruct the evolutionary history of neuropeptide familes in the animal kingdom and to determine how related neuropeptides are utilised to co-ordinate physiological processes and behaviours in animals that have dramatically different body plans.
