I am modelling an axial pull-out test for buried pipeline by using ABAQUS. I modeled pipeline as a shell element and soil as a solid element. I used Mohr-Coulomb plasticity to model the soil. There is a surface to surface contact between pipe and soil. I used kinematic coupling between a reference point and pipe surface. I applied axial displacement at the reference point. When I have only cohesion yield stress in my model, there is no issues related to convergence. However, I have convergence problem when I have friction angle in my model. The error I got is "The plasticity/creep/connector friction algorithm did not converge at points". What might be reason for that? Thank you very much in advance.
