Dear all,
I am modelling a secant pile wall in Plaxis 2D. Pile length is 24m and embedment depth is 7m. I am modelling a staged construction. I have a strut at the top (nearly 1 m below the ground). Even though I excavate 1.7m depth of the soil, toe of the pile starts moving. Do you know how can I deal with this issue? Thank you very much in advance.

Which parameters and soil model have you been using?
If smal strain stiffness is not considered and strength parameters are low you can obtain displacements at great depths even during minor unloading.

You have not described the properties of soil, it may be due to lager ground deformation due to the excavation in clay soil. Dealing this issue in the problem, first you should analyse the stresses and strain at closer to the toe that includes ground deformation. I recommend you to read PLAXIS manual for better understanding about your problem. Lot of PLAXIS based literatures are reported in regard to your topic, I request you to read those papers for further understanding your problem. All the best in your research.
