I have begun formulating a research idea about if and how globalization transform the state from welfare states to competition states - esp. in the developing world and/or CEE.
I am looking for directions to published research, databases and not least researchers who have begun formulating similar questions.

With the globalization of modern technologies, the concept of state sovereignty has disappeared, and borders have become formal
Dr. Elker Mohamed, I agree that that modern technologies limits sovereignty but will qualifies it in the sense that China and other autocracies appear able to block/hinder communication across borders.
I will add that the markets -trade, FDI and financial- also put stress upon the states. Perhaps not 'hollowing the state' but transforming it.
