Hi

Would anyone know where exactly a nascent eukaryotic mRNA transcript is terminated by the bGH polyA signal (referred to here as the first termination event). I know the pre-mRNA is usually cleaved about 21 nucleotides downstream of the 'AATAAA' motif followed by addition of 200 adenine residues (referred to here as the second termination event), but I am more interested in the first termination event. It might even occur at the same site as the second termination event or is completely random but I can't seem to find much information about it, hence any informed response would be very much welcomed.

Thanks

Ifeanyi
