Anyone can tell me what is the difference of heterojunction materials and doping materials? If one nanomaterial is made up of alternate layers of phase A and phase B, is that a heterojunction materials or not?
Hetrojunction The interface point between two electroactive semiconducting materials while doping is the process or the way of charging in the redox system.
heterojunction is the interface between 2 materials forming a composite. Doping is in theory the change of an anion or cation by another one in the structure of a material, some scientist also referred decoration as a type of doping.
A heterojunction (HJ) is the interface of two or more materials (e.g. semiconductors) to produce a composite material, taking advantage of the semiconductivity characteristics of the materials in the junction ("n" or "p" type). Commonly, the HJ is promoted to enhance charge carrier transportation in a device. In contrast, doping or also called "chemical modification", consists in the incorporation of impurities into a material, in order to increase its conducting properties or sometimes extend its light absorption to less energetic values for photochemical, photoelectrochemical and photovoltaic processes. Depending on the kind of material, the impurity can occupy different positions to induce the charge compensation.
