When you mention phase transition, are you referring to a change in the crystal structure of the ammonium nitrate? Ammonium nitrate does not melt by itself until 170°C, so I think you have to be referring to a change in the crystal structure. The only crystalline phase transition I can see around that temperature is to and from the rhombic phase. But, the rhombic phase should be stable up to >80°C by itself. Is this coating process in a solvent and does that solvent affects the transition? Also, when you mention coating performance, what type of performance are you evaluating? I think more information is needed to try and assess what could be occurring in your coating process. If you can provide additional information, I will try to see if I can be of more assistance.
