The clay/mud in the water settled out of the water after standing for a while. Agitation mixes it up, The particles are very fine (microns in size) and cannot be seen, but under the microscope, or X-Ray, there is so much. When the water is poured out and the bucket dries, those particles remain as dust in the bucket.Try it. Disease causing germs are also even much finer.

Dear Ufuomaefe Oghoje , your water sample would probably contained some microorganisms, they are usually non visible with the nacked eye unless they are in large concentrations. These microorganisms grow over time and then you can see them as turbidity or slimy. Water from wells or natural sources must be analysed before using them for drinking or any other use involving feeding people or animals. Water must be sanitised (boiling or chemically treated) to sterilising it.

Usually the water analysis involves microscope observation and cell cultures, because some microorganisms could be in low concentration, but still be dangerous for us or animals. Water analysis also need to check the concentration of chemicals and heavy metals, which must be under the safe standards.

Some times, a water sample can be drinkable and if the water container had some kind of microorganism it could grow up once the water is added. Also, the container and the water sample could be clean, but if we leave the container open or exposed some microorganism from the air could pullute the water sample.

These two last options are rare if you use sterile containers and handle properly the sample.
