Hi guys,
I'd like to develop a Tetrazolium chloride viability assay to quantify populations of Micplsama pneumoniae. If I understand correctly, as the bugs grow in Tetrazolium- containing media, the media turns red. If so, I can quantify the intensity of color spectrophotometricaly.
Does anyone have any advise on the procedure? or protocols they can share? A general guideline how to approach such assay development will be much appreciated.

Dear Marina, since you are taking your first steps to develop a cell viability test of Mycoplasma pneumoniae, it is necessary to keep in mind that it is still unclear how tetrazolium salts work in bacteria. Therefore, its use, without considering this lack of clarity, could lead to misinterpretation of the results.
