Have you ever used a syringe/needle method for RNA extraction with Trizol? It would be in the homogenization stage. I read in an article that it would be better than homogenizing with beads. Similar to GenteMACS Dissociator. But I haven't found how it would be done. And I don't know if a glass or plastic syringe is used. My objective is extraction of adipose tissue
Syringe homogenization is performed by passing your samples through a small gauge needle. This should shear your samples into small pieces and facilitate lysis of the cells. Using a syringe should work pretty well on adipose tissue, but it can be problematic on tougher tissues like muscle or skin.
A single-use plastic syringe should work fine for homogenization.
