I have come across many processes with the same reactants (Dimethylamine hydrochloride and dicyandiamide) but different reagents, I have chosen DMF and toluene as my reagents.

First step is the reaction at 140C (over the boiling point of Toluene(110C) and closer to the boiling point of DMF (153C).

In this step, the reagents will start boiling and for the reflux, I will condense all the vapors formed and thus using molecular sieve 3A, water will be separated and only reagents will be refluxed back.

From the next step, I am a bit confused. How should I separate DMF and Toluene? Should I use fractional Distillation or simple distillation?

After that, what should be done?
