For transient studies, the use of TRNSYS is a very good choice.

For CFD calculation, you have to use othe programs as ANSYS, FLUENT an Solidworks (as I do).

If you want to model a simple solar system and to dimension it, you can create your own program in matlab or fortran or another language.

Moreover, I use EES for modelling the solar collectors by using energy balance equations.

The final selection is yours and it is depended from manu parameters as it is obviosu from all the interesting ansewers in this useful question.

TRNSYS should be considered, particularly if you also want to interface the collector with other components of a complete system.
