Looking for a good source of information on strong and extreme winds in the Arctic (monthly values, annual extremes etc.). The form of maps (with isolines) will be most interesting (atlases? papers? reports?). Your kind advises will be highly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I think the "Arctic vortex" phenomenon brings the cold from the Arctic down to us (Central Manitoba, the coldest place in N. America) and we have had that in the last 3 days. Up to 51 km hour brings the felt temperature to minus 44 degrees C (last year it went down to minus 66"C.
I didn't think there was extreme wind in the Arctic!

What I'm looking for are a sort of maps (atlases?) with the wind force isolines (m/sec, km/h, m/h) covering the whole Arctic area. Need a good and clear picture for a lecture/presentation. Never knew that Manitoba is a such cold place...

thank you for the try to assist, but the paper you've sent is named:
"The Decline of Snowpatches in the Snowy Mountains of Australia: Importance of Climate Warming, Variable Snow, and Wind" and is dealing with the climatology of some region in Australia, not the Arctic (my question was about strong winds in the Arctic). It seems to be an omission.
