Hi,
I am wondering if anybody can help me. Upon trying to run a qpcr plate on the applied biosystems StepOne PCR machine, I get an error message saying 'run aborted, unable to move block within specified timeout'
The block is able to rise but then the message appears straight after
I have done the usual; rebooting the machine, resetting the computer and I am still faced with the same error issue. I am hoping there is a solution that will not involve a maintenance callout.
Has anybody else experienced this?

We have experienced this problem with the StepOne Plus machine.
Make sure that the plate your are using is compatible with your machine. This information must be indicated on the suppliers website. StepOne machines are quite specific, and using non-listed plates produces random outcomes (sometimes unable to fully rise the block).
If you have different suppliers/different plate models, you can try transferring your samples to another qPCR plate. That's what we did to fix our problem.

Hi Martin Chenal , thank you for your answer. It did turn out that I used the wrong plate, there was a very subtle difference in the thickness of it that took us a while to realise!

I am sure you recently changed your plate. Check your plate first.
We typically use plates from Applied Biosystems (REF 4346906). Once I switched plate to VWR and faced the problem. So, please check your plate thickness. I hope this will solve the issue.
