we know that detection of distant metastases at the initial stage of diagnosis of prostate cancer is important to establish the treatment approach and has a prognostic value.
Nevertheless, there is no consensus as to the staging, yet.
Since proposed staging approaches often contradict each other, I would like to discuss with you about the different imaging techniques for staging, including future applications of the most innovative methods.

Patients with unfavorable intermediate or high risk prostste cancer should undergo staging. Staging modality is divided between conventional imaging and newer modalities. Definitely theranostics with PET PSMA has increased the threshold lf detection of metastasis. However, all studies previously done are based on conventional imaging. Therefore, decisions based on PET imaging have to be judicious since PET scans are catching more patients in the oligometastatic state that were previously localized.
