SPSS doesn't offer Aligned Rank sum test in version 17-21? If one were to report a multiple time data where continuous variable werent normal, would normalizing and using anova not amount to simple split plot anova? what of if the data is ranked originally, how can one handle it possible with these older SPSS versions?
In my opinion, normalization is not the right thing here. It is better to use nonparametric tests in the software SPSS. On the way Analyze/ Nonparametric Test/ Independent Samples, there are many tests in this area. If your data is dependent on each other and is the result of measurement-based findings with Repeated Measures of the use test Friedman's 2-way Anova.
You may want to look at ARTool (http://depts.washington.edu/madlab/proj/art/ ).
It can be used as an R package, and it looks like there is a Windows executable for it also.
I've played around with the R package just a little, and it's pretty easy to use with some knowledge of handling data in R. I haven't tried the Windows .exe.
