According to some statistics major developed countries are spending money on sports programs and activities 10 times more than money spent on academic programs and research. Do you think this trend is good or bad? And why?
Sports are useful and help enhance many other aspects of healthy lifestyle. However, research is very important and help enhance community members lives. There should be a good balance to maintain reasonable distribution of resources.
Well when you have unbalance between expenditures on science and sports then people tends to favor sports more because it is financially covered and needs less responsibilities. But what is the cost in the future?
Sport is good for the brain and the body. Scientific programs are important for the advances and exploration of new ideas, innovation and many others matters,
َSports is needed to improve human health. However, for the advancement of societies and economies there should be more improvement in sciences and this has positive impact on sports and health of human beings. Otherwise what would be the benefit of neglecting research and improving sports? it will lead to less services, less innovations...etc
Dear Fiann you are analyzing he point from personal needs and I agree with you in that case people tends to favor technology on hardship of sports (i,e, buy a PS4 with NHL game is easier than going to arena to learn how to play this game). But, talking about academic, private and public institutes look for fast earning and easy money take as an example world cup 10s of billions of dollars are spent during a month of activities, but earning twice. Another is Formula races (1-3 levels) almost a trillion or more is spent in one season. Compare that to money expenditures on scientific research in similar period of time !!!
