Nowadays the progress and development of any country is measured by the development and support of scientific research. Which country is contributing with scientific research that improves human life and how is this measured compared to other countries?
Scientific research impact is measured using a number of metrics. Most common is publication output (peer-reviewed papers and patent applications) and the US take the lead with China following when considering per capita output. Other indicators such as the percentage of GDP used for R&D, number of scientists in R&D in a population and production of doctoral graduates.
