Does anyone know what the best solvent for dimehypo (thiosultap disodium, thiosultap sodium; bisultap)? Can this compound dissolve in organic solvents (acetonitril, acetone, ethanol, etc)? i really appreciate your help.
Hi Miranti Puspitasari, here is some information I found:
Dimehypo
Physical and chemical properties: pure product is white crystal with a melting point of 142-143℃, industrial product is a brownish yellow or dark brown liquid with density of 1.3-1.35 and prone to moisture absorption; soluble in water and 95 percent hot ethanol, insoluble in benzene, acetone, ethyl ether and other organic solvents; stable at normal temperatures and easily decomposed in strong alkali media.
Apparently among the organic solvents, ethanol is the most suitable.
Thank you for the help. I have dimehypo in powder form and need to be analyzed using LCMS with acetonitrile effluent. I will try to dissolve it using ethanol and acetonitrile. Fortunately ethanol is soluble in acetonitrile.
