Good day! I'm planning to reduce methyl red using sodium borohydride or lithium aluminum hydride. I have previously reduced benzyl viologen with sodium borohydride and as benzyl viologen becomes soluble in toluene after reduction, I could easily extract it after the reduction reaction using toluene. But unfortunately, I could not find any information on the solubility of the reduced methyl red so far. Does any one have any idea what solvents dissolve the reduced methyl red (which is expected to be colorless as it becomes the leuco base of methyl red dye)? Thank you!
