I am attempting to model a Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) model with heliostats and a receiver tower within SolTrace. When altering the heliostat coordinates, the ray tracing indicates that nothing is hitting the receiver tower. I assume this requires an alteration to the x,y,z aimpoints, but have not found anything regarding how those are truly calculated to do myself. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Be prepared to solve a trigonometry problem using spherical geometry methods.
1. The position of the mirror relative to the tower. Angles from the mirror to a point on the tower in azimuth and altitude.
2. Angles from the mirror to the sun in azimuth and altitude (this is what the program gives).
3. Mirror angles - tilt and rotation, such that the angles at the point on the tower and at the sun relative to the normal to the mirror are the same.
