Reverse Osmosis for desalination requires considerable power for the complete system. It is feasible if the solar array and subsequent power generated is sufficient to power the R.O. system. That would be the challenge.

I'm not sure what you're asking here. Assuming you have the right conditions for an adequate Solar PV array for the intended purpose, that can produce the needed power, it can be a substitute for conventional electrical power.
RO process requires pressure above 70 atm, and the power should be lasting. I'm not sure if the application of solar cells is feasible.
