Of course, when collecting the solar energy for any new process, including drying, we increase the absorption of the solar radiation and hence increase the heat absorbed by the earth. therefore, the energy use by mankind should never be larger than a small part of the solar radiation received by the earth. Nevertheless, the use of solar energy is always much better for the environment than the use of fossile energy agents. See attached paper for example.
