The trinity concept evolves from the human observation that neither sex alone can survive. So, both male characteristics and female nurturing are needed to achieve the one goal of survival. The deviation in Christianity of 2 male (father and son) and the Holy Ghost (wisdom) has been undermined by the introduction of the cult of Mary the mother - restoring the male (protect and provide) and female (nurture).
In orthodox Christianity, divine trinity refers to the oneness of Holy Father, Holy Son, and Holy Spirit. This is a very fundamental belief for the Bible-based churches.
