Dear Ahmad, Nitrogen and Potassium fertilizer proved to be the increase in salt tolerance to the plants. Beside that application of Si has been found to be very active for salt tolerance. Please look at the attached file for more details.
We are practising fertigation using conventional fertilizers like urea plus muriate of potash dissolved in phosphoric acid in citrus grown in central India. This has cut down the fertilizer requirement by 30-40% over conventionally applied fertilizers using basin irrigation.
In absence of fertigation , we advocate to apply macronutrients through soil application and micronutrients through foliar fertilization....especially in fruit crops
I have given fertilizers directly in to the soil along with organic manures and biofertilizers. This has proved to be more economical in citrus (Kinnow mandarin) in North India (Jammu) as increased cost of cultivation is compensated with higher yields of good quality fruits.
