In the case of Leptin receptor there is a signal peptide present. Just have a look at: https://www.uniprot.org/uniprotkb/P48357/entry scroll down and the following info can be found:
1-22 signal peptide
22-839 topological domain
840-862 transmembrane
863-1165 topological domain
If you click om the red colored (little) box, you can see that the sequence is: MICQKFCVVLLHWEFIYVITA So at least for your example the answer is yes.

If you check the (FASTA) sequence in Heliquest (https://heliquest.ipmc.cnrs.fr ) then you find that this sequence is corresponding to a highly hydrophobic sequence that can be categorized as a transmembrane helix that apparently in this case serve as signal sequence.
