Several case study have shown that innovation is the result of a creative imagination, I wonder if there are not other causes why somebody innovate in a given system.
I really do not know if we can separate imagination from innovation, as in black and white. But for purposes of attempting if we can, we try the use of ready-to-apply computers (templates, programs), especially in statistical problem solving.
Before the advent of statistical packages, a student will always use his imagination to come up with the solution. With the"cookbooks" around, it would seem it is no longer necessary to imagine to arrive at the solution.
Personally, I believe "imagination" is always needed to come up with new things.
With imagination "there will be when there was none.".
Innovation is not something which comes up by thinking innovative. It is the result of many things for example the lack of resources compels people to think about the alternatives and doing so they come up with the things which are innovative. To me innovation does not come to reality, but thinking to do something in an efficient way sometimes lead to a glowing spark and then we start calling it innovation.
The process of innovation often includes the five key elements:recognition, invention, development, implementation, and diffusion. I think we may need imagination in the stage of recognition.
Creativity has its link with the intelligence. With intelligence I mean the Cognitive Intelligence (which we measure in number called IQ) alongside Emotional intelligence (EI) / Emotional Quotient (EQ). A person with reasonable IQ with higher EQ is always creative at thinking.. So u can not stop creativity that bring innovation. \Moreover, what drives a man to bring creativity is its human nature which asks for a change and he always challenges the status quo.
Creative persons are imaginative. They tend to look at situations, events, problems from different perspectives, which other people don't. The process of imagination leads to identification of newer way of dealing with situations, events, problems. This creative imagination coupled with individual's knowledge and skill results into innovation of product, process, technology.
Innovation requires dedication, skills, thinking power and a target to create something new or original such as development of a new tool and technology
