In many countries the feast of the work is always accompanied by a leave for all employees. But the work is freedom, I think it's working we can celebrate the work to show our love for the job.

I think things related to work as following: to work or not, in the day dedicated to the feast of the work -a public holiday- that is Labor Day depend on the culture of the place, as culture of work! for instance in my country- Romania - Labor Day/ the 1-st of May, is a popular feast! -People eat, drink and it enjoy the spring, most often, outdoor at picnic!
We can celebrate the work,and to show our love for the job all days along a year when we get to job, and I think these must be shown as to be: involved; seriously; carefully and concern with results of work, interested in customer (internal and external) satisfaction! So, finally: Let's work, effectively and efficiently and enjoy the holiday, if we have it! Everything has its own meaning!
