I have seen many questions on papers rejected after for many months of delay.. it could be very frustrating and devalue the paper if it is time sensitive. I know it depends of the reviewers response but I belief that Journal editors can fast track it. My question now is to whether they should be rated on that too?
Dear Asemoloye Micheal Dare, it certainly depends very much on the quality of the respective journals. In our field of research, good journals such as those published by the Royal Society of Chemistry RSC (see website link below), the American Chemical Society ACS, Elsevier of Wiley advertise with short publication times (e.g. an average of 9 weeks from submission to online publication for all RSC journals).
