More and more publishers are moving towards Open Access, with high (not so competitive, as claimed) article publishing charges. A well recognized publisher claim: “Whatever your discipline, there’s an open access home for your research”. However, journal reviewers continue providing a FREE service to publishers. Exceptionally, a few journals offer a reduced publishing discount to reviewers. Is it time for a change? Should reviewers claim financial compensation for their reviews? What do you think about?
