When I calculate specific capacitance of a TMO, considering IR drop gives me lower values and reducing values as I increase charge rate which are familiar phenomena. However, when i do not consider IR drop (which has been suggested by some papers), the specific capacitance increases overall and also increases with scan rate. Is this normal? Please if you have an explanation or have observed this phenomenon before, I would like to hear from you. Please see attached file. Thank you.
IR drop is not considered while calculating specific capacitance. You have to consider only linear portion of the curve. At increased current density usually IR loss also increases as the system is resistive in nature. However, your observation is is just opposite. Your charge discharge plot consists of three zones: IR loss, discharge and second discharge. This indicates different mechanisms prevail in the system. You have to report average capacitance or maximum capacitance. It occurs normally with conducting polymer and metal oxides.
