Normally, editors suggest journals for transfer with lower impact factor than their own journal. And they transfer only in their sister journals. Now whether to transfer or not... depends upon your choice based on many factors. If your are convinced that your work can be published in high impact factor than you should reject the transfer offer. And submit it to another journal. However, if you think your work is fine with the reputation of the suggested journal for the transfer than go for it.

The choice is yours. Always stick to journals that are rigorous in their peer review processes and of high impact. It is not worth our research efforts to publish in any other journal that does not meet these criteria.

It's normal, but first, do a back ground check on your own and make a decision based on what you have found about the recommended journal and compare with other options you have and the chances your work stand to be published with them.

These things do happen and depending on the journal suggested for transfer you simply need to do your background check of the journal being suggested. If the journal commands reputation among the research community I think its ok to go for it.

As someone involved in editorial work, I can tell you about my experience. In some cases the authors do not select correctly the journal and do not study the scope of the journal. Most editors accept papers form which they expect the highest citation and impact. They know their readership and what types of paper are successful for increasing the impact factor and what are not. In some cases we have to reject papers (without sending them to referees) which are excellent by themselves but not for the readers of the given journal. Or it may bee to technically/practically oriented in a theoretical journal. So it may be the advantage of the author too to send it to a more proper journal. In some other cases a high impact factor journal may has to reject papers which are good but not good enough for the given journal. In the Express Polymer letters e.g. we reject more than 80% of the incoming papers - not necessarily because they are bad. It is true that the format should be changed accordingly.

In general i would suggest a Yes, if the other journal is also of general interest (reputation, IF, readership...).

My reason is that the goal of the publisher is to keep your paper in his family of journals but for the Editor this is only one motivation but he has also to remain respectable in his field. Therefore he would only suggest this transfer, if he really thinks the new journal suits your paper better and is worth transfering. As the editors might know each other this could also be an additional benefit.

Of course, you can transfer to another journal. Sometimes, it might be accepted in good journal. I wish you good luck.

It's all about the scope of the journal. If your work does not fit in the journal's scope, I believe it's more polite and realistic to suggest a transfer other than outright rejection.

One may transfer if the scope of the new journal fits the concept in the manuscript. I once had an article which was later published by IAFOR which was sent to Sokoto Educational Review on textbook evaluation. I was later contacted to publish it in a journal on counseling. The rest is now history.

At this moment, the paper is rejected from the journal. The editor suggests transferring your manuscript to another journal belongs to the same publisher but more proper to your paper. His opinion is not obligatory. You can accept or reject. To do so, check the home page of the suggested journal and if you like it and it has a fair impact factor, you can accept. Otherwise, you can submit your paper at any journal.



Surely, Your paper transfer to another journal suggested by them can be accepted. It all depends on your interest, the rejection of your paper, may not necessarily be based on the quality. It depends on several factors like, more papers are coming in same area, journal may be interested on specific theme at that juncture etc. Firstly, each journal will be following a certain format, we should follow and submit. As I understand, no two journals may have same format for submission. Secondly, the paper sent to the other journal reflects like a new submission but not the other way. We should not think that paper will be viewed critically. Having sent papers sent to journals, rejected and published in another journal, I am giving this answer with experience.

I don't have the experience but this is what I think. When you accept the transfer, the target journal that your manuscript was transferred may feel inferior over the initial journal that you submitted. If the proposed journal is a good place to submit, why you are not submitting yourself by using some citations from that journal? The main concern is your used references. Perhaps you did not use any reference from the proposed journal thus it is not logical to accept the transfer.

Just ignore it, i came across this situation earlier. When i agreed to transfer my paper to another journal, It was again rejected with in 2 days with no comments.

I had similar experience few months ago, the editor suggested transfer to a suitable journal which I accepted. Please, don't get discouraged by rejection of your journal article. It doesn't always mean that the paper is of less quality. It could be that the journal you submitted to has high traffic and the Editor might just intentionally reject less fancied articles.
