I have a few questions regarding XPS analysis, particularly for Cl⁻ 2p 3/2 and 2p 1/2 peaks. Here are my main points of inquiry:

  • Should the area ratio between the 2p 3/2 and 2p 1/2 peaks be fixed at 2:1 during peak fitting?
  • Should the % Lorentzian-Gaussian function for the 2p 3/2 and 2p 1/2 peaks also be set to the same value? If both Cl⁻ and Cl⁰ are present, would it be advisable to apply the same constraints (area ratio, FWHM, and % Lorentzian-Gaussian) to the Cl⁰ peaks as well?
  • Would it be best practice to fix these parameters before running the peak fitting optimization?

Thank you for your time and guidance. I look forward to your response.

    Best regards,
