Aceclofenac is metabolized into various metabolites and Diclofenac is one of them and this Diclofenac has been banned for its use in cattle due to vulture mortality in South Asia. So, should we take step to stop the use of Aceclofenac also. Please give your valuable comments.
Aceclofenac is very good NSAID for chronic conditions.
Studies are lacking that clearly mentions that aceclofenac is real threat to vultures.
Attached EMC SPC clearly mentions "Aceclofenac circulates mainly as unchanged drug. 4'- hydroxyaceclofenac is the main metabolite detected in plasma."
More data is required to conclude this.
As studies revealed that the aceclofenac was not properly metabolized in vultures or formed some harmful metabolite fore them, but it is safe and good for humans and one of the best NSAIDS. We can prohibited the veterinary use of drug by which indirectly it affected the vultures.
Yes it should be banned for vet use and for humans its one of the best NSAID drugs and widely use in tablets,injections and topical creams.
