Is there published work on the typical corrosion rate for iron (1850s carbon steel and cast iron) in seawater? I am looking at corrosion rates for a deep-sea shipwreck (known age) and want to find out if a "typical" corrosion curve would be expected to produce a peak and/or plateau. I know the exact chemistry of the seawater at the site will influence the specifics, but just looking for an estimate of the shape of the curve and rough times. Thanks!
