Hi

I am looking for a low cost alternative to EGM-2 media for isolating and expanding outgrowth endothelial cells.

I also want a low serum alternative so do not want to use M199 with 20% FBS. ECGS is out since I would like to use defined growth factors.

Has anyone worked with MCDB201 or DMEM-LG containing 2% FBS (+/-ITS+1) for culturing these cells, and if so can it match the EGM-2 media as regards performance and maintenance of the cells.

Also can anyone provide input on the minimum growth factor requirements for a serum reduced endothelial media along with concentrations, since Lonza suggests addition of a whole lot of growth factors etc. (like EGF, bFGF, IGF, VEGF Hydrocortisone and Heparin). Could there be a growth factor redundancy in this formulation?
