Hello, I would like to ask if anyone can help me : I have to segment a cochlea first and later measure the volume using Amira software as part of a PhD thesis.
Could someone tell me how to do this optimally ? Thank you very much
When assuming that you have a CT-scan of the inner ear, for the segmentation I think you could try using the "magic wand" in the Segmentation Editor. If too much of the inner ear is segmented together with the cochlea, you might want to use the "lasso"-tool in the 3D-mode inside the Segmentation Editor to remove those parts.
If you are not familiar with the Segmentation Editor, you might want to start by watching this video:
Yes, I actually have uCT images of rats and I am supposed to segment the cochlea of them. I started today and I was a bit unsure. Tried today after watching some tutorials to work mainly with magic wand because it is the easiest. It went reasonably well. The only thing I found a bit difficult is to distinguish in a black and white 2D picture what still belongs to the cochlea and where is the nerve or the artery. That's why I'm looking for 3D models of the cochlea, where I can see the different structures and colours in 2D. But this is something special and I don't know if it works with Amira.
