Nano-fertilizers, as published in literature, enhance uptake efficiency of the component nutrient, eg works reported in case of nano-zinc, but from cost-benefit analysis do not look quite acceptable.

For your kind information, the terminology a "nano fertilizer" is not regularly used in literature sir. In literature, they used to quoted as nano particles of zinc or iron etc. Nano-fertilizers are not yet commercially formulated for farmers use. Nano particles are enhancing nutrient uptake, in the meanwhile some literarure reported that NPs having a negative effect on microbial ecology (This might be the reason for not using the terminology????) . A number of research works with soil application of nano particles are carried out across the globe. But on foliar application, literature and work is limited.
Currently, I am working in a topic of effect of Zn and Fe nano particles on rice and wheat crops with two different mode of application (foliar and soil). So, discussion on this topic could be enrich my knowledge in this regard.

thanks Mr Gobinath, since nano-particles are used in several applications, so when used as fertilizer through foliar/soil we may term as nano-fertilizer although products are not yet in the trial stage in several public/corporate institutions.
happy to note that you are conducting some trials on Zn and Fe through foliar/soil application, foliar seems to be more economical, but not attractive from cost-benefit, in soil application we have to apply a greater amount involving even more costs.
some work already done in other parts of the globe, and my interest of raising this issue was to initiate the discussion on this imp aspect

Especially application of Zinc sulphate efficiently works in rice crop when rice plants stop their growth due to deficiency of Zinc. After Zinc application of in deficient plants uptake macro nutrient and grow normally.
thanks, Fateh, definitely ZnSO4 hepta or mono application gives good response to crops and most widely used and is affordable too
even their use as foliar nutrition product is quite promising, in terms ofzinc fortification also
but when we compare it with nano zinc, nano materials are costly although efficiency of uptake through nano is higher, but not acceptable to farmers on cost basis
