Agriculture is a complex system, and understanding of the system's behavior is too complex and involves biotic and abiotic interaction. Significant work in the past have been reported, which deserves unique recognition. There is a strong need to initiate nobel prize in the field of agriculture and allied fields. I wish to opinion of dear colleagues in this regard.

I present herewith a brief history, mandate and scope of Nobel Prize:
(1) Alfred Nobel's last will, made on 27th Nov 1895, specified that his fortune be used to create a series of prizes for those who confer the "greatest benefit on mankind" in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, and peace. Nobel bequeathed 94% of his total assets to establish the five Nobel Prizes. The prizes in Chemistry, Literature, Peace, Physics, and Physiology or Medicine were first awarded in 1901.
(2) The related Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences was established by Sweden's Central Bank in 1968. In 1968, Sveriges Riksbank (Sweden's Central Bank) celebrated its 300th anniversary by donating a large sum of money to the Nobel Foundation to be used to set up a prize in honor of Nobel. The following year, the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences was awarded for the first time. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences became responsible for selecting laureates. Although not a Nobel Prize, it is intimately identified with the other awards; the laureates are announced with the Nobel Prize recipients, and the Prize in Economic Sciences is presented at the Swedish Nobel Prize Award Ceremony. The Board of the Nobel Foundation decided that after this addition, it would allow no further new prizes.
(3) The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awards the Nobel Prize in Physics, the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, and the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences; the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet awards the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine; the Swedish Academy grants the Nobel Prize in Literature; and the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded not by a Swedish organisation but by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
Please note (point no. 2) that as per the decision of the Nobel Foundation, there is no possibility of adding any further new prizes.
Therefore, ‘’The World Food Prize’’ was conceived by Dr. Norman E. Borlaug, recipient of the 1970 Nobel Peace Prize. And since 1986, The World Food Prize has honored outstanding individuals who have made vital contributions to improving the quality, quantity or availability of food throughout the world.

Thanks Drs Kundu and Prem, agricultural research is prime important and integrates several disciplines, and several noted researchers have appeared in the scene who contributed significantly, but could not receive this unique prize. Some unique applications exist in Climate change, NRM, Soil and water conservation, genetics and plant breeding, IPM, systems analysis and crop modelling and so many, and definitely there could be a cope of adding some newer disciplines and optimistically Dr Prem has put at no 7 as future consideration

yes I agree, there should be Nobel prize for Agriculture and alied sciences like Veterinary
